This modest shack was prime real estate located right on the bay, and is still standing today. The tar paper shack was soon reinforced, expanded and lifted to survive every harsh winter and hurricane since The undertaking was mostly by Douglas and his friends, many who were builders and carpenters.
This tar paper shack soon became the home of Doug Sr. The homestead was, in time, passed down toDouglas Brewster Jr. He did not have any of the playground comforts present in Atlantique today, but all he needed was the ocean and open beach. The home was also where he raised his own family, giving his children the unique childhood he experienced of being a full-time resident of beautiful Fire Island.
Noise should be kept at an appropriate volume at all times so as not to disturb or inconvenience other persons using the marina. Use of generators is strictly prohibited. Erecting a tent or shelter is only permitted outside of quiet hours. All tents and shelters must be taken down and stored aboard your vessel by pm.
Absolutely no cash or checks will be accepted. Use of barbecues or open flames must be kept at a minimum of 25 feet from dock. Absolutely no grilling on vessels or docks. Our staff reserves the right to ask grill owners to move, if their grill or grilling becomes an inconvenience to others.
Walkways are to be kept free and clear of impediments and obstacles at all times. Fishing is permitted in designated areas only. Dogs must be leashed at all times. Owners must clean up after their dogs. Dog waste disposal bags are available on marked signage throughout the marina property.
The dog run is located by the east restrooms. No swimming or diving shall be permitted from the docks, or within the basin. The vessel owner is responsible for any damage caused by improperly tied vessels. The use of insufficient or worn dock lines is strictly forbidden and management may replace all such lines at their discretion, the cost of which shall be paid by the vessel owner. Discharge of oil, sanitary waste, flammable liquids or oily bilges is a federal offense and is strictly prohibited.
Any type of littering is prohibited. All refuse should be placed in proper receptacles. Please take care with your belongings, and do not leave personal items behind. Any personal items left after your stay will be removed and discarded. Fueling of vessels in marina is strictly prohibited. If you see something, say something. If you see anything that does not seem correct or seems unsafe, please bring it to the attention of our staff.
Atlantique is a collective jewel, and we appreciate your help in enforcing these rules to allow an enjoyable and safe experience for all. These rules and regulations are in no way meant to supersede any applicable laws or codes. Is there still a resident decal program? Town decals are required to receive the resident discount; you can purchase those through the town for this year as you always have. The town uses a rigorous process to prove residency to obtain a decal sticker.
