Responsibilities Serve as primary contact for the project stakeholders and for representatives from the advisory board to facilitate the process and coordinate meetings and conversations: Assist with establishing and building ongoing relationships with community organizations and members.

Compile, analyze and report on meeting results and research and evaluation findings to further the process of learning. Responsibilities Develops, implements, and manages laboratory-related safety programs to meet regulatory requirements and address safety-related needs in Conservation Center laboratories, including chemical safety, radiation safety and respiratory protection Advise Conservation staff, interns, fellows, and volunteers on proper laboratory safety procedures for handling, use, storage, and disposal of chemicals and the use of radiation sources.
Order safety-related laboratory supplies and review Conservation Center orders of hazardous chemicals. Conduct introductory safety sessions for new staff and periodic review sessions as required by OSHA to update staff awareness of current safe laboratory practices and government regulations. Schedule calibration of monitoring equipment, inspections and licensing reviews by outside safety inspectors, as well as chemical waste disposal by outside contractors.
Plan, conduct, and document environmental testing to assess the impact of light, dust, temperature, humidity, and vibrations on the display, transit, and storage of artworks. In collaboration with conservation, make recommendations for appropriate long-term preservation strategies.
Implement protocols for environmental monitoring of light, dust, temperature, humidity, and vibration in the galleries. Collaborate with the facilities manager and engineers to maintain the recommended museum environment. Participate with conservators and conservation scientists in the development of preventive conservation strategies for the display, transit, and storage of artwork in the collection and on loan to the museum.
Conducts spectral analysis on light sources to be considered for use in galleries and determine if they are suitable for gallery use or for a specific artwork. Keep up to date on current best practices in Preventive Conservation by reading and maintaining relevant literature. Communicate these findings to conservation, curators, and upper management. Post-graduate, hands-on laboratory experience with hazardous chemicals is required.
Previous attendance at seminars and workshops, which reviewed and provided updated information on government regulations regarding hazardous materials and radiation safety is preferred.
A familiarity with Conservation materials and procedures is preferred. Managing Photographer Regular, Full-Time Photographic Services The Managing Photographer plays an important role in managing a team of two photographers to ensure efficient and successful operations and execution of the in-house Photo Department at the museum.
Responsibilities Oversees daily operation of studios and ensures quality control of images in a managing photographer role. Assigns departmental work orders appropriately and ensures they are completed satisfactorily. Provides mentorship to other photographers in the department, including training and coaching as well as identifying opportunities for performance development.
Responds effectively to difficult professional situations that may arise and provides appropriate guidance to photographers and other colleagues at the museum. Develops, manages, and promotes positive team culture. Documents two- and three- dimensional artworks; produces installation and exhibition photography and offsite in-situ photography; and documents people and events as needed.
Utilizes advanced lighting and capture techniques to maximize the reproduction of artworks. Performs intricate focus stacking and multiple exposure captures to maximize results. Demonstrates a thorough understanding and application of color management. Performs advanced Photoshop layering, masking, and color matching. Stays abreast of current imaging techniques, software, and emerging technologies.
Produces guide prints for catalogues and other publications using museum equipment. Provides consultation and support on large-scale photographic assignments. Consults appropriately with supervisors, including Director of Graphic Design and Publisher.
Responsibilities: Supervise, establish priorities, and train the Collection Information and Digital Assets staff that administers the databases, supports users with creating and accessing information that facilitate museum activities, assists with cataloging the collection, and delivers collection data including still images and video to downstream applications like websites and apps.
Create, supervise, and oversee department budget, which includes innovative technology projects that will enhance the use of collection information and digital assets. Oversee projects and meet with management to provide updates regarding the progress of high-profile projects, statistics on usage, record maintenance, and location tracking of the collection.
Maintain the training program for museum staff to access, edit, and utilize collection data and digital assets, continually evaluate its effectiveness, and develop new training courses as needed. Work in collaboration across multiple departments and consult multiple knowledge sources with a critical understanding of dominant and marginalized narratives in order to maintain and establish cataloging standards appropriate to museum standards and user needs. Provide support on a wide variety of projects with museum staff to help identify and implement workflows and responsibilities required of collection information and digital asset management systems including TMS and ResourceSpace.
Work closely with the Assistant Vice President of Technology to coordinate efforts and ensure that priorities are being met for collection information and digital asset-related projects.
Manage relationships with vendors and contractors, prioritizing and communicating issues and needs for future development. Continue to explore promising trends and developments that support the delivery and administration of high-quality, easy-to-use digital tools for stakeholder groups internal and external to LACMA. Continually seek opportunities to incorporate diverse ways of knowing and understanding LACMA's permanent collection and communities served through collections data, digital assets, and digital platforms.
Performs other duties or special projects, as assigned. Minimum 2 years of experience with a collections management system and digital asset management system in an administrative capacity.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience. Advanced knowledge of SQL and reporting software. Extensive knowledge of museum cataloging data standards. High-level digital project management experience in the arts and culture sector is strongly preferred. Experience with business needs analysis, user support, training, and documentation.
Detail-oriented and accustomed to utilizing a variety of tools to track and report the status of projects. Highly developed communication and networking skills including the ability to advocate collection information priorities and internally and externally work with diverse stakeholders. Clearly and concisely explains certain aspects of visitor experience that pertain to specific works of art.
Assists visitors in the capacity of gallery support when required. Shares factual and necessary information with colleagues, visitors, and members via excellent written and verbal communications. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Employee is required to attend various training sessions as scheduled.
Operates register and receives payment for ticket, membership, and donation transactions while maintaining strict attention to cash handling accuracy.
Escalate any guest service issues, complaints, or unanswerable questions to the Visitor Services Leadership team. Performs other duties or projects as assigned. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Qualifications: At least two years of relevant experience in a high volume and customer service-focused setting.
Background in Art History preferred. Strong skills in ticketing software, preferably in Tessitura. Basic math skills. Must operate with attention to detail and strong organizational skills while managing a continuous workflow. Open availability including holidays, nights, and weekends. Responsibilities: Works with Manager, Mobile Programs and part-time mobile educators in developing high-quality programming and curricular materials on ancient civilizations.
Serves as a resource for staff in the content areas of the Art of the Ancient Americas and Art of the Ancient World and collaborates with LACMA curatorial departments on caring for and understanding the objects in the mobile collection. Works with the Manager of Mobile Programs and part-time mobile educators to conceive of interactive, participatory, student-centered activities for elementary and middle school students with diverse backgrounds, including English Language Learners and students with multiple needs.
In collaboration with the Manager of Mobile programs, evaluate mobile programs and assessment of part-time staff, maintain statistical information, and document compelling evidence to demonstrate impact. Complete work orders, order supplies, process and track payments, and conduct other administrative duties for mobile programs. Develops and monitors budgets. Schedules part-time mobile teachers and assists Manager with scheduling of schools. Participates in departmental initiatives and on department committees.
Performs other duties or special projects as assigned. Familiarity with 6th and 7th-grade curriculum and object-based teaching. Preference for working with elementary and middle school students in a classroom setting. A combination of related education, training, and teaching experience will be accepted.
