The Youngstown Playhouse is for two types of people: 1 people who love the theatre and 2 people that do not believe local theatres can put on quality shows.

However, I am not bitter. The only downside to the Youngstown Playhouse is that there are weeks when there are no performances at the Playhouse. Definitely check ahead of time to see the dates of shows.

Seriously, though. Picture by Mark Stahl. Maybe you are not interested in an artistic experience. Maybe you just want to sit inside a warm, quiet restaurant and enjoy some wine and authentic pizza.

If you are that type of person, the Golden Dawn is the place for you. The Golden Dawn screams Youngstown, from its amazing Italian food to its wall decorations. Some wall decorations include Ursuline High School my alma mater awards, pictures of Youngstown during the time when steel mills were especially popular and more.

Despite the death of its owner, Ralph Naples , the bar continues to exemplify Youngstown traditions. The bar and grille is particularly special because it is not like a typical bar. It is more on the quiet, classy side except if Ursuline High School wins a football game , despite its sporty interior. For example, customers are not allowed to swear and be raunchy, and bartenders and waiters wear professional attire to serve the guests. Overall, the Golden Dawn is genuinely a great place to sit, enjoy a meal and quietly listen to the rain outside.

Along with performers, the bar is constantly filled with people in their twenties who are looking for a good time on a boring day or night. I feel that Cedars represents Youngstown. Although it is not the prettiest to look at, it is full of life, smiles and art. Do you agree with this list?

Just a few simple pictures hang on the mostly bare walls. The only two employees are Can and Hin. And that is where part of the appeal starts. Customers will say that the food is one key thing about the place. But they quickly will point to Can as the other. But from 4 to 8 p. He combines jokes and theatrics for a night of entertainment — flirting with pretty girls and creating fireballs on the grill that reach to the edge of the overhead fan.

And people keep coming back. Often people will wait two to three hours before taking a seat, and then they wait longer while Can, the only cook, and Hin, the only server, make their way around to the six tables that each seat eight people. The portions are great.
